About
City of Salem campground on the southern third of Winter Island, a 54-acre peninsula at the mouth of Salem Harbor. The city's fee schedule lists 28 RV sites with water and 30- or 50-amp electric for rigs up to 45 feet (some limited to 20-35 feet) and 22 tent sites with a pedestal grill and picnic table but no hookups, seven of them without on-site parking; the park map also shows a tent site 41. Igloo group sites 28-34 are booked through the campground office rather than online. No dump station in the park; waste water is dumped at the nearby sewage-treatment facility at no charge. Bathhouse open 24 hours in season. Ground fires are prohibited; use an elevated fire pit. Public boat ramp, historic lighthouse, and beach on site (no pets on the beach May 15 to September 30; leashed elsewhere).
